The Story Of Pip The Polka Dot Turkey

Once upon a time, in a cozy little forest surrounded by tall trees and chirping birds, there lived a very unusual turkey named Pip. Pip wasn't like the other turkeys. While their feathers were brown and shiny, Pip’s feathers were covered in bright, colorful polka dots—red, blue, yellow, green, and orange!

Pip loved the way the polka dots sparkled in the sunlight, but the other turkeys didn’t understand. They would cluck and say, “Why do you look so different, Pip? Turkeys aren’t supposed to have polka dots!”

Pip felt sad. “Maybe they’re right,” Pip thought. “Why did God make me look this way?”

One day, Pip wandered off to the meadow, tears glistening on the bright polka dots. Pip looked up at the sky and whispered, “God, why did You make me so different? Don’t You love me like the other turkeys?”

Just then, a soft breeze brushed through the trees, and Pip heard a gentle voice in his heart. “Oh, Pip,” the voice said, “I made you special on purpose. Your polka dots are part of My plan. I love all of My creations, and that includes you.”

Pip blinked. “Really, God? You love me even though I’m different?”

“Yes, Pip,” the voice replied. “I made everyone unique. Look at the flowers in the meadow—are any of them the same?”

Pip looked around and saw daisies, tulips, and roses, each one a different color and shape.

“No, they’re all different!” Pip said.

“And yet they are all beautiful, just like you,” God said.

Pip smiled for the first time in days. "Thank You, God. I think my polka dots are pretty, too."

When Pip returned to the other turkeys, they were playing by the pond. Some of them noticed Pip’s cheerful smile and said, “Pip, your polka dots are really shiny today!”

Pip stood tall and said, “Thank you! I learned something special. God made me this way, and He loves me just as I am!”

The other turkeys tilted their heads, thinking. Then one little turkey named Tilly said, “I like your polka dots, Pip. They make you... you!”

From that day on, Pip didn’t feel sad about being different. Pip knew that God’s love wasn’t just for turkeys with plain feathers—it was for everyone, no matter how they looked or felt.

And whenever Pip felt lonely or misunderstood, Pip would remember God’s voice:
“I made you special on purpose, and I love you just the way you are.”

As the stars twinkled in the night sky, Pip snuggled into the cozy nest, feeling warm and loved. And soon, Pip fell asleep, dreaming of a world full of polka dots, daisies, and God’s love shining everywhere.

    The End

Pause and Reflect: God made each of us unique, just like Pip, and His love never changes—no matter how different we feel! 🌟Have you ever felt different or like someone didn’t understand you? It’s okay because God loves you just the way you are, just like the polka dot turkey.

    3. Activity: What Makes Us Special? (10 minutes)

    Instructions:

  • Group Chat: Ask the children, "What makes you different or special? Maybe it’s your curly hair, your laugh, or the way you love to dance."

  • As each child shares, affirm their uniqueness by saying, "That’s so special! God made you that way because He loves you!"

  •

    Mirror Activity:

  • Pass around small mirrors. Let each child look at themselves and say, "God made me, and He loves me!"

  •

    4. Craft: Polka Dot Turkey (15 minutes)

    Steps:

  • Give each child a turkey coloring page or cutout craft (your choice).

  • Let them use crayons, markers, and polka dot stickers to decorate their turkey. You can have them cut it out with scissors if you would like them to.

  • While they work, remind them: "Your turkey is beautiful because you made it! Just like God made you and loves you, even when you feel different."

  •

    5. Closing Prayer and Song (5 minutes)

    Prayer:

"Dear God, thank You for making each of us special. Thank You for loving us, even when we feel different or misunderstood. Help us remember that You love us so much, just like You love the polka dot turkey. Amen."

    Song:

Sing a simple song like "Jesus Loves Me" or "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands," replacing a line with "He's got the polka dot turkey in His hands!"

    Take-Home Message

Send each child home with their decorated turkey and a simple note for parents:

"Today, we learned that God made us all special and loves us no matter what! Ask your child to tell you about the polka dot turkey!"
