The Easter Chick Who Roasted S'mores For Every Bunny!

The Easter Chick Who Roasted S’mores for Every Bunny!

A Sweet Easter Story with Crafts, Games, and Gooey Goodness

Starring your lovable chick friend… Waffles!

Story: "The Chick Who Roasted S’mores for Every Bunny!"

Waffles was a tiny yellow chick with a big heart and an even bigger idea.

While all the other animals were busy hiding eggs and filling baskets with candy, Waffles had something else in mind...

“I want to do something really special for Easter,” he said.
“Something warm… sweet… and super gooey!”

Waffles looked around the farm and spotted a bag of marshmallows.
“S’MORES! That’s it! I’ll make s’mores for every bunny I know!”

So he gathered:

  • Marshmallows

  • Chocolate

  • Graham crackers

  • A tiny stick

Waffles waddled to the campfire pit, stuck a marshmallow on his stick, and tried to roast it...
It plopped into the dirt.
Then he burned one.
Then one caught on fire and zoomed through the air like a marshmallow rocket!

“Oops,” he chirped, laughing.

Finally, Waffles roasted the perfect golden puff.
He stacked it with chocolate and graham crackers and made the most delicious s’more ever.

Then he made ten more!

He packed them into tiny paper baskets, tied them with string, and placed them on porches, windowsills, and doorsteps.

When the bunnies and animals found them, they were delighted.

“Who made these?” they asked.
“Best Easter surprise ever!” said one.
Waffles blushed and peeped from behind a flowerpot, holding one last s’more just for himself.

The End.

Craft: “Build-a-S’more” Paper Craft

A fun, hands-on craft that lets kids build their own pretend s’mores—just like Waffles did!

Supplies:

  • Brown construction paper (graham crackers)

  • White paper (marshmallow)

  • Dark brown or black paper (chocolate)

  • Scissors

  • Glue stick

  • Crayons or markers (optional for details)

  • Optional: cotton ball for “puffy marshmallow” texture

  • Optional: mini paper basket or decorated cup to “deliver” the s’more like Waffles

Directions:

  1. Cut out the parts of your s’more:

    • 2 squares of brown paper for the graham crackers

    • 1 smaller white oval or square for the marshmallow

    • 1 rectangle of dark brown paper for the chocolate

  2. Decorate the graham crackers:

    • Use crayons or markers to add tiny “cracker dots” or edges

    • Kids can write their name or draw a smiley face like Waffles!

  3. Build your s’more:

    • Glue one graham cracker on the bottom

    • Layer on the chocolate, then the marshmallow (or cotton ball for texture!)

    • Add the top graham cracker to finish

  4. Optional: Make a delivery basket

    • Use a small paper cup or cut-out basket shape

    • Decorate it with Easter colors and grass

    • Place the s’more inside and pretend to deliver it—just like Waffles!

Learning Tie-In:

This craft supports:

  • Sequencing (what goes on first, next, last)

  • Fine motor skills (cutting, gluing, layering)

  • Creative play (pretend delivery, make-believe storytelling)

  • Literacy connection to Waffles’ story and Easter fun

Craft: Waffles the S’mores Chick Puppet

Supplies:

  • Yellow paper or cardstock

  • Orange paper for beak and feet

  • Brown paper (for graham crackers)

  • White and dark paper (for marshmallow and chocolate)

  • Glue, scissors

  • Googly eyes (optional)

  • Popsicle stick or straw

Directions:

  1. Cut a yellow circle for Waffles’ body and decorate with eyes, beak, and wings.

  2. Cut tiny s’mores pieces and glue them in Waffles’ wing.

  3. Attach to a popsicle stick so kids can bounce Waffles around as he delivers treats!

Activity: S’mores Surprise Trail

  • Hide small paper s’mores (or plastic eggs with paper s’more drawings inside) around the room.

  • Each one leads to a clue about who Waffles is surprising next!

  • Encourage kids to follow the trail like Waffles did, ending at a “Campfire Station” for pretend roasting.

Game: Marshmallow Hop

  • Scatter soft cotton balls or white pom-poms on the floor.

  • Kids must hop from one to the next like they’re marshmallows in a fire ring.

  • Call out silly instructions:

    • “Hop like Waffles!”

    • “Spin before you land!”

    • “Freeze with your marshmallow face!”

Snack: Mini S’mores Baskets

Ingredients:

  • Graham crackers

  • Mini marshmallows

  • Chocolate chips or small chocolate squares

  • Small paper cups or muffin liners

Instructions:

  1. Help kids build mini s’mores in cups (no fire needed).

  2. Warm in the microwave (5–10 seconds) if desired.

  3. Serve in paper baskets just like Waffles did!

Song: “S’mores for Every Bunny” (Tune: “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”)

Waffles roasted treats so sweet,
Gave each bunny something neat!
Chocolate, crackers, marshmallows too,
Stacked with love for me and you.
Bunny friends were so surprised—
Waffles made their Easter nice!

Parent Resource: Teaching Kindness Through Giving

Waffles' story encourages:

  • Generosity (“giving instead of receiving”)

  • Problem-solving (figuring out how to make the s’mores just right!)

  • Creativity and fine motor skills through the craft and trail activity

Ask your child:

  • “What would YOU surprise your friends with for Easter?”

  • “What would you put in your own kindness basket?”

  • Act out Waffles' delivery mission at home!
