Story: "The Easter Bunny Who Forgot Where He Hid the Eggs"

It was the night before Easter, and Beeper the Bunny was hopping through the garden with a basket full of colorful eggs. He was so excited, he wiggled his nose twice and did a little bunny dance.

“I’m going to hide these eggs in the BEST places!” Beeper said.

He zoomed all over town, hiding eggs under flower pots, in birdhouses, behind wheelbarrows, inside teacups, and even in a boot!

He was feeling pretty proud—until he got home and realized…

He forgot where he put every single one.

“Oh no!” he gasped. “I hid them TOO well!”

The next morning, the Easter Bunny woke up to knocks at the door.

“Where are the eggs?” asked the kittens.
“We brought our baskets!” said the ducklings.
“We want our Easter hunt!” cheered the piglets.

Beeper’s ears drooped.

“I, uh… might’ve forgotten where they are…”

The animals all looked at each other.

“Let’s help him!” said a squirrel.

And so began the Great Easter Egg Search!

They searched in funny places:

  • In the mailbox (where they found a jellybean stuck to a stamp)

  • In Grandma Goat’s knitting basket (she almost knitted an egg into a scarf!)

  • Inside a tuba (that one made a funny noise when it rolled out!)

  • On top of a goat’s head (she had no idea it was balancing there!)

  • One was even stuck in a peanut butter sandwich at the café.

Every time they found an egg, they cheered!
“Beeper! We found another one!”

Beeper wiggled with joy.

By the end of the day, they had found ALL the eggs. (Well… maybe not the one inside the boot. That one squished.)

The whole town celebrated with an egg-decorating party and lots of carrot cupcakes.

From then on, Beeper made a rule:

“Next year, I’m making a map!”

The End.

Craft: “Where’s That Egg?” Surprise Scene Craft

Supplies:

  • Paper “yard” scene background (bushes, flowers, mailbox, boot, etc.)

  • Printable cut-out eggs

  • Flaps or pockets (made with construction paper scraps)

  • Glue, crayons, scissors

Directions:

  1. Decorate the background with crayons and cutouts (flowerpots, hats, etc.).

  2. Glue on flaps or pockets behind bushes, boots, or teacups.

  3. “Hide” eggs behind each flap!

  4. Let kids take turns revealing where the eggs are hidden!

Craft: “Easter Egg in a Boot” Lift-the-Flap Craft

A fun surprise craft where kids hide a paper Easter egg inside a flap boot — just like in the story!

Supplies:

  • Brown or gray construction paper (for the boot)

  • Colorful paper or white paper to decorate (for the egg)

  • Glue stick

  • Scissors

  • Markers, crayons, stickers, or dot markers for decorating

  • Optional: googly eyes and silly shoelaces (yarn or string)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Boot:

    • Draw or trace a simple boot shape on brown paper.

    • Cut out the boot and set aside.

    • (Optional: Glue string/yarn onto the boot for laces!)

  2. Create the Background Page:

    • On a plain piece of cardstock or construction paper, glue a decorated Easter egg in the middle of the page.

  3. Hide the Egg:

    • Glue the boot on top of the egg on only three sides so it acts like a flap or pocket.

    • When you lift the boot, the egg is “hidden” underneath!

  4. Decorate Everything:

    • Add grass, flowers, or draw Beeper the Bunny in the corner!

    • Kids can title it: “Oops! There’s an Egg in My Boot!”

Snack: “Egg Hunt Trail Mix Cups”

Ingredients:

  • Mini pastel candy eggs or yogurt raisins

  • Pretzel sticks (bunny ears!)

  • Cheerios

  • Dried fruit

  • Mini marshmallows

Instructions:

  1. Mix everything together in a big bowl.

  2. Scoop into colorful cupcake liners or cups.

  3. Enjoy during story time!

Snack: “Easter Egg in a Boot” Cup Treat

A silly snack that looks like an egg hiding inside a boot — no real boots required 😄

Ingredients:

  • Clear plastic cups or small paper snack cups (the “boot”) (you can draw a boot on the front if you like)

  • Chocolate pudding or crushed chocolate graham crackers (for “mud” in the boot)

  • Pastel chocolate egg (the “hidden egg”)

  • Gummy worms or candy grass (for fun texture)

  • Whipped topping or marshmallows (optional “boot fluff”)

Instructions:

  1. Fill the “boot”:

    • Add a layer of chocolate pudding or crushed graham crackers to the bottom of the cup (muddy boot base).

  2. Hide the egg:

    • Gently place a candy egg inside the “mud.”

    • You can cover it slightly to make it look hidden!

  3. Decorate the top:

    • Add gummy worms, green candy grass, or a puff of whipped cream to resemble laces or boot fluff.

  4. Serve:

    • Place on a paper plate labeled “Easter Egg in a Boot” — and let the kids scoop to find the hidden egg!

Game: Bunny’s Silly Memory Hunt

Hide large paper eggs around the room in silly places (under cups, in a shoe, in a hat).

Let kids:

  • Use clues to guess where the eggs are

  • Point, hop, or tiptoe to the location

  • Shout “FOUND IT!” and place it in the Easter basket

Encourages observation, memory, and group play!

🎵 Song: “Beeper Forgot Again!” (Tune: “Bingo”)

There was a bunny full of joy,
But he forgot his places...
E-G-G-G-G
E-G-G-G-G
E-G-G-G-G
Oh where’d he put those eggs now?!

🎵 Song: “Where’d I Hide My Egg?”

(Tune: “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”)

Where’d I hide my Easter egg?
Was it near that stump or shed?
In a boot or on the swing?
Under flowers or in a ring?
I don’t know—I lost my track!

Parent Resource: Teaching Memory and Sequencing

This lesson encourages toddlers to:
Retell a silly sequence
Build memory and attention
Engage in pretend problem-solving
Practice creative storytelling and group cooperation

Try this at home:

  • Hide plastic eggs in odd places and let your child “be Beeper” and try to remember where they’re hidden

  • Make a map together for their own egg hunt

  • Talk about “first, next, and last” events in the story
