🐾 TODDLER STORY:
The Skunk Who Shared His Ice Cream
It was a hot, sunny day in the forest, and Sammy the skunk was excited. He had just bought a big cone of chocolate-chip-berry-swirl ice cream — his favorite!
He found a shady spot under a tree and sat down, ready for his first big lick. But just then... along came Ricky the raccoon. Ricky looked hot, tired, and sad.
"Hi, Sammy," Ricky said quietly. "I was really hoping to get some ice cream too... but they ran out."
Sammy looked at his cone. It was big. It was melty. And he really wanted it all.
But then he remembered what his mommy had told him:
“When you share, you’re showing God’s love.”
Sammy took a deep breath, broke his cone in half (with a splut!), and gave a piece to Ricky.
“Want to share mine?” he asked.
Ricky’s face lit up. “Really? Thanks, Sammy!”
They sat together, eating their squishy, drippy cones, laughing and telling stories.
And you know what?
The ice cream tasted even better because they shared.
The End.

Sharing ice cream, sharing toys,
Sharing with the girls and boys.
God is smiling when I do,
Something kind for someone too.
Sharing shows a heart that cares,
God is happy when we share! 🎶
📝 POEM:
A scoop for me, a scoop for you,
Sharing is what God wants us to do!

🧠 ACTIVITY:
Kindness Cone Sorting
Cut out paper scoops with pictures or words like “share,” “hug,” “help,” and “thank you.” Let kids stack the “kind scoops” on top of their cone. Talk about each action.
🍎 SNACK (Alternative Idea):
Graham cracker cones + Cool Whip + fruit topping
Just fill the graham cracker one with cool whip and fruit topping.
or
"JOY CONES"
Just fill an ice cream cone with cake batter mix that you mixed up and bake it according to directions on box. You can set them in muffin tin pans so they stay up. When done just add frosting and sprinkles to it.
🙏 CLOSING PRAYER (Repeat After Me):
Dear God,
Thank you for my friends.
Thank you for good treats.
Help me to share what I have,
And show your love every day.
Amen.
💬 LET’S TALK ABOUT IT (Teacher/Parent Prompts):
-
What did the skunk do that made the raccoon feel happy?
-
How do you feel when someone shares something with you?
-
What is something you could share with a friend today?
-
Was it hard for the skunk to share his ice cream? Why or why not?
-
Do you think God wants us to keep everything for ourselves?
-
Can sharing be fun, even when it’s hard?
✨ WHY IT MATTERS (Mini Message)
In today’s story, the skunk had something really special — ice cream! But when he saw a friend in need, he chose to share instead of keeping it all to himself. That’s exactly what God wants us to do.
The Bible tells us, “It is good to share.” (Hebrews 13:16)
When we give to others, we’re showing God’s love in a big way — even with something as small (and yummy!) as a scoop of ice cream.
📬 OPTIONAL TAKE-HOME NOTE:
Today we learned about a skunk who shared his ice cream with a friend — and how it made them both smile! Ask your child who they can share something with this week. It could be a toy, a snack, or even a hug!
