SweetTart Turkey Preschool Bible Lesson

🦃 The SweetTart Turkey Who Shared His Treats
With a toddler-friendly Bible story, hands-on craft, movement game, and a catchy song, this lesson is perfect for Sunday School, preschool, children’s church, and homeschool.
🌈 Bible Theme:
Sharing sweetness and kindness with others.
📖 Bible Verse (Toddler Version):
“Be kind and share with others.” — Hebrews 13:16
💡 Main Point to Repeat with Kids:
“Kind hearts share sweet things!”
📚 Toddler Story – The SweetTart Turkey Who Shared His Treats
SweetTart the turkey was the fluffiest, whitest turkey in the barnyard — and his feathers were the prettiest pastel colors you’ve ever seen! Every morning, he strutted through the yard with a little bag of his favorite candies: SweetTarts! 🍬
He loved the way they made him feel — happy, cheerful, and sweet on the inside. But one day, he noticed his friends didn’t look as happy. The duck looked down, the pig didn’t feel special, and the sheep was too shy to ask for help.
SweetTart gobbled softly and thought, Maybe my sweetness isn’t just for me.
So, he opened his candy bag and gave each friend a piece. Suddenly, smiles spread across the barnyard! The pig danced, the sheep giggled, and the duck sang a silly song.
SweetTart realized that when you share what you love, your heart gets even sweeter.
That night he prayed,
“Thank You, God, for giving me joy to share. Help me spread sweetness everywhere!”
And from then on, SweetTart didn’t just eat candy — he shared kindness with everyone he met.
🎲 Activity – Sweet Treat Share Game
Give each child 5 colorful paper “candies” (cut out circles).
Have them “share” one with a friend every time they hear you say the word “sweet!” during a short story or song.
At the end, everyone holds up their candies and says,
💬 “Sharing is sweet!”
Then add this little faith moment:
💬 Teacher says: “And who loves it when we share?”
💬 Kids respond: “God does!”
You can follow with:
💬 “Because God loves kind hearts that give!” (Hebrews 13:16)
💭 Why We Did This:
When we share, we show God’s love in a real way. Just like SweetTart the Turkey shared his candies, we can share our toys, our smiles, and our kindness too! God loves it when our hearts are sweet and giving — because that’s how we make the world brighter, one little act of kindness at a time. 🌟
👩🏫 Teacher Dialogue (Say After the Game):
“Wasn’t that fun, friends? When we share, it makes our hearts sweet — just like SweetTart the Turkey! And do you know who loves it when we share?”
💬 (Pause for kids to respond: “God does!”)
“That’s right! God loves it when we’re kind and think of others first. Every time we share, we’re showing His love to the world. That’s the sweetest thing of all!” 🍬💛

🎨 Craft: “SweetTart the Turkey” Paper Plate Craft
(For Preschool Sunday School or Thanksgiving Bible Lessons)
🧺 Supplies Needed:
-
1 white paper plate (for the base)
-
Construction paper in pastel colors (pink, purple, yellow, orange, mint, and white)
-
Small piece of orange paper (for feet and beak)
-
Small piece of red paper (for the wattle/gobbler)
-
Scissors ✂️
-
Glue stick or school glue
-
Black marker or googly eyes (for the eyes)
-
Optional: Small foam ball, pom-pom, or rolled paper circle (for the raised belly)
🪶 Directions:
-
Prepare the Feathers:
-
Cut long ovals from your pastel construction paper — about 4–6 inches each.
-
Use scissors to cut small “feather veins” into the sides of each oval to give texture.
-
Use different pastel colors for a bright, happy look.
-
-
Attach the Feathers:
-
Glue the feathers in a fan shape along the top half of the paper plate.
-
Overlap them slightly so they look layered and full like a real turkey tail.
-
-
Make the Body (This is the 3D part):
-
Use a small foam ball, a paper ball, or crumple a small piece of tissue paper into a round shape for the belly base.
-
Glue that round piece to the center of the paper plate, slightly lower than the feather line.
-
Now, cut many tiny “feather scale” shapes from white and light pink paper.
-
Glue them in rows, starting from the bottom and layering upward over the round belly piece.
-
Each “feather scale” can be made using a small paper punch or hand-cut into little teardrop shapes.
-
-
Make the Head:
-
Cut a circle for the head (about the size of a golf ball).
-
Roll a tiny piece of white paper into a small cone shape and glue it to the head as the turkey’s face area.
-
Roll an even smaller orange cone for the beak and glue it to the white cone.
-
Add a small red teardrop shape under the beak for the wattle.
-
Draw or glue on two black eyes.
-
Add the Feet:
-
-
Cut two orange paper feet in a simple three-toed shape and glue them under the body.
-
-
Final Touches:
-
Glue the completed head above the body.
-
Let everything dry completely before displaying.
-
Optional: Write “Sharing God’s Sweet Love!” at the top and the verse “Be kind and share with others. — Hebrews 13:16” at the bottom of the paper plate.
-
🧡 SweetTart the Turkey (Simplified Preschool Version)
Goal: The teacher builds the base, and the kids decorate and assemble key parts hands-on.
👩🏫 Teacher Prep (Before Class):
-
Pre-Cut:
-
Cut out all the big pastel feathers.
-
Pre-cut the orange feet, white head circle, and pink or white “belly feathers” (small oval or scallop shapes).
-
Roll and glue together the beak and gobbler pieces so they’re ready to stick on.
-
If you want the 3D look, pre-glue a small pom-pom, foam ball, or rolled tissue ball to the center of each paper plate and let it dry before class.
-
-
Set Up Craft Stations:
Have a “feather station,” a “belly decorating station,” and a “face station.”
🧒 Kid Participation Steps:
-
Glue the Feathers:
Each child gets their pre-cut pastel feathers and glues them around the top half of their paper plate.
→ Teacher prompt: “Let’s make our turkey’s beautiful feathers! Every color is special — just like you!” -
Add the Belly:
Give each child a handful of pre-cut mini “belly feathers” (white and pink).
They glue them one by one onto the round belly area (which you already built using the foam ball or paper lump).
→ Teacher prompt: “Let’s give SweetTart his fluffy tummy!” -
Attach the Head:
The teacher helps glue on the round head piece at the top of the body.
The kids can stick on the beak and wattle (you can pre-roll the cones so they’re ready to glue). -
Add the Feet and Eyes:
-
Kids glue on the orange feet at the bottom.
-
Either draw on eyes with a marker or stick on googly eyes.
-
-
Final Touch:
Let each child write their name and decorate the plate rim with crayons, stickers, or little candy drawings.
💬 Faith Connection Moment While They Work:
As the kids are gluing, say:
“SweetTart the Turkey loved to share his candy with his friends. God loves it when we share too — because it shows we have a kind heart!”
Have everyone say together:
💬 “God loves kind hearts that share!”
💡 Inclusive Tip:
Children who can’t cut or glue easily can still:
-
-
Pick feather colors for a helper to glue.
-
Point to where they want each piece to go.
-
Add stickers or color the background.
-
💡 Teacher Tip:
If you’re short on time, you can pre-cut the feathers and body layers for younger kids. Older preschoolers can handle cutting their own shapes with supervision.

These small moments of play gently teach that kindness, generosity, and joy are all ways we can share God’s sweetness with the world. 🍬🦃

📬 Optional Take-Home Note for Parents:
Today we learned about SweetTart the Turkey, who shared his candy and made his friends smile!
Ask your child to tell you one sweet way they can share kindness at home this week.
💖 Teacher Reflection
This lesson reminds children that kindness and generosity are simple ways to show God’s love. As the teacher, you’ll notice how naturally little ones begin to smile, laugh, and help one another during the Sweet Treat Share Game or when they talk about SweetTart the Turkey’s big, kind heart. Watching them learn that “God loves kind hearts that share” is a beautiful moment of faith growth.
The laughter, the flapping wings, and the joy of the music all blend into one message: sharing brings happiness to others and pleases God. As teachers, it’s a great reminder that the smallest acts — a candy, a smile, or a kind word — can plant seeds of love that grow long after class ends.
Encourage the children’s natural excitement to give, celebrate their efforts, and model what it looks like to live with a “sweet heart.”

💖 How Everyone Can Join In – Adaptive Learning Ideas for “SweetTart the Turkey” Preschool Bible Lesson
At Church House Collection Store, every child matters — no matter their ability or how they participate. Here are thoughtful ways for all children, including those with physical disabilities, developmental differences, or sensory needs, to join in the SweetTart the Turkey lesson:
🦃 Story Time:
-
For children with limited sight, read the story aloud with strong expression and describe each picture: “SweetTart’s feathers are pink, orange, and yellow — they look happy and bright!”
-
For children who can’t sit still long, let them hold a small soft turkey toy or feather to touch while listening.
-
For nonverbal learners, offer picture cards of SweetTart, candy, and friends so they can point when the story mentions them.
🎲 Activity – Sweet Treat Share Game:
-
Children with mobility challenges can hand out “paper candies” by choosing colors while a helper delivers them to friends.
-
If a child can’t hold or pass candy shapes, they can participate by smiling, choosing who to share with, or pointing or nodding when it’s time to give.
-
Encourage verbal and nonverbal responses — children can say or signal “God loves it when we share!” in their own way.
🎨 Craft Time:
-
For kids with fine motor challenges, use larger pre-cut shapes or sticky foam pieces instead of scissors and glue.
-
Children with limited hand use can direct a helper on where to place pieces, colors, or stickers.
-
For those sensitive to textures, allow crayons or markers instead of glue or glitter.
-
Offer adaptive tools like Velcro dots, large glue sticks, or tape loops for easier handling.
🎵 Song and Movement:
-
Children in wheelchairs or with limited motion can still participate by tapping rhythm instruments, nodding to the beat, or raising one hand or finger when they hear “SweetTart the Turkey is oh so sweet!”
-
Provide shakers or soft bells that can be attached to wrists or arms.
-
Encourage classmates to move together — inclusive participation shows unity and love.
💕 Inclusive Movement for “Flap Your Wings” Song Moments
-
Head Movement Version:
Encourage the child to move their head gently side to side or nod to the beat when everyone else flaps their wings.
💬 Teacher prompt: “Let’s all dance our own way — you can flap, nod, or bounce to the music!” -
Facial Expression Dance:
Have the child use big smiles, winks, or blinking eyes as their “dance.”
💬 Teacher prompt: “SweetTart’s joy is in his face! Let’s show our biggest smiles for God!” -
Shoulder Shrugs or Gentle Bounces:
If they have partial arm or torso mobility, small shoulder shrugs or body wiggles count as “wing flaps.”
💬 Teacher prompt: “Every move is a dance for God — even little wiggles count!” -
Prop Movement Option:
A helper or peer can hold a soft feather, streamer, or ribbon and move it gently in rhythm next to them — so they’re visually represented as part of the dance.
💬 Teacher prompt: “Your feathers are flying so beautifully!” -
Assistive Tech or Adapted Movement:
If the child uses a wheelchair, the teacher or aide can help tilt or spin the chair slightly to the rhythm while the child nods or smiles.
💬 Teacher prompt: “Look at those awesome turkey turns!” -
Sound Participation:
Provide a small jingle bell, maraca, or soft drum that the child can tap with their headband, elbow, or adaptive switch button so they make music while others flap.
💬 Teacher prompt: “You’re keeping the beat — what a great helper to the band!”
🍎 Snack Time Inclusion:
Every child can enjoy snack time in their own way! Children who have feeding challenges or limited mobility can still be part of the experience through smell, color, and choice. Offer the snack tray for them to choose by pointing or eye gaze, or let them smell or describe what they see. A helper or teacher can assist with small bites or hand-over-hand support if appropriate.
If a child cannot eat orally, they can still join by passing out napkins, naming colors, or saying “thank you, God, for our snacks!” in their own special way. The goal is for every child to feel included, loved, and part of the group celebration — because sharing and thankfulness come in many beautiful forms. 🍬💛
💬 Prayer and Discussion:
-
For children who are nonverbal, provide picture symbols (heart, candy, smile) so they can join in the “Repeat After Me” prayer.
-
Allow each child to “share” one thing they love (verbally or by showing a picture) as an example of thankfulness and giving.
🌈 Overall Inclusion Goal:
Every child can reflect God’s love — whether through words, gestures, eye contact, or laughter. The goal is never perfection, but participation. Encourage joy, patience, and teamwork as the class celebrates that sharing God’s sweet love is something everyone can do.
🌈 Encouragement for the Whole Class
At the start of the song, remind everyone:
💬 “God loves all our dances — big or small! Everyone can move in their own special way to show God’s joy.”
This sets the tone that every child’s way of moving — or smiling — is equal and celebrated.
