📚 Toddler Story: Mikey the Squirrel and the Pumpkin Pie Praise Party
(Read in a cheerful storyteller voice)
In the middle of a cozy little forest, there lived a happy squirrel named Mikey. 🍂🐿️
Mikey loved to bake pumpkin pies—and he loved God even more.
Every fall, the smell of warm cinnamon and sweet pumpkin filled his treehouse.
But Mikey didn’t sell his pies. He gave them away for free! 🥧
After church each Sunday, Mikey would stand outside with a big smile and say,
“Here’s a pie to make you smile—and here’s a Bible to fill your heart!” 📖💛
Everyone loved Mikey’s kindness. His pies were delicious, but his joyful heart was even sweeter.
He didn’t have much, but he had something special—a thankful heart.
One Sunday, when Mikey thought everyone had forgotten him, all the squirrels from church surprised him with a brand-new kitchen!
There was a shiny pie pan with his name on it, new baking tools, and a big sign that said:
“Serve the Lord with gladness.”
Mikey cried happy tears. “Thank You, God, for friends who love You too!”
That night, the forest filled with music, laughter, and the smell of pumpkin pie.
Everyone sang and thanked God together at the first-ever Pumpkin Pie Praise Party! 🎉
And Mikey learned that when you serve God with joy, His love always comes back around. 💛
🌟 Story Reflection:
Mikey’s story reminds us that when we give and serve with a happy heart, God fills our lives with joy and blessings.

💛 Inclusive Idea – “The Pumpkin Pie Announcer”
If the child cannot move their arms or legs, give them the special role of The Pumpkin Pie Announcer!
They become the voice and joy of the bakery — the one who welcomes everyone in, gives the orders, and reminds everyone of the Bible verse.
Here’s how it can work:
🗣️ 1. Use Voice or Switch Communication
The child can use their voice, a communication device, or even a head-switch button (if they use one) to “call out orders” like:
“Two pumpkin pies coming up for our happy customers!”
“Don’t forget to serve with gladness!”
They can also say the Bible phrase aloud or with assistance:
“Serve the Lord with gladness!”
🎩 2. Make Them the Bakery Leader
Give them a chef’s hat (placed gently on their head) and call them “Head Baker Mikey” or “The Joy Baker.”
They can decide who gets each pretend pie or Bible and help direct where things go — the same way a real baker oversees the kitchen.
💬 3. Create Sensory Involvement
If possible, let them experience the smells of cinnamon, pumpkin spice, or pie crust with scent jars or scratch-and-sniff stickers while everyone “bakes.”
You can say:
“Mikey’s pumpkin pies smell amazing today — let’s all take a big smell of God’s goodness!”
🎶 4. Include Them in the Joyful Repetition
When everyone says, “I can serve God with joy!” they can smile, nod, hum, or use their preferred signal — that smile is their act of serving with gladness.
🌟 Encouraging Message to Share with the Class
Tell the children:
“Everyone can serve God — with our hands, our voices, or even our smiles. Mikey reminds us that joy comes from the heart, and everyone can share it!”
💛 Special Inclusion Note:
Every child can serve God in their own way—through joy, smiles, or small acts of kindness.
