Story: "God Made Time — A Daylight Savings Time Story for Toddlers"

Once there was a little boy named Timmy. Timmy loved to play outside when the sun was up and loved to snuggle in bed when the moon was out.

One day, Timmy's mom said,
"Timmy, tomorrow the clock will change! We call that Daylight Savings Time."

Timmy asked,
"What does that mean?"

Mom smiled and said,
"Sometimes we change the clock to have more sunshine in the day! But guess what? Even when time changes, God never changes. God made the sun, the moon, and He helps us every day!"

Timmy looked out the window and saw the sun shining.
"So when I wake up and play, God is with me?" he asked.

"Yes!" said Mom. "And when the moon comes out and it's bedtime, God is still with you."

Timmy smiled and said,
"God is with me all the time!"

And from that day on, when Timmy saw the sun or the moon, he remembered:
"God made time, and God loves me every day!"

Activity: "Day and Night" Movement Game

How to Play:

  • Have kids stand in a circle.
  • When you say "Day!", kids stretch up tall like the sun and say "Shine, shine!"
  • When you say "Night!", kids curl up small like they're sleeping and say "Goodnight!"
  • Repeat and go faster and slower to make it fun!
  • Say together: "God made day and night!"

Craft: "Day and Night Clock Craft"

Supplies:

  • Paper plates (1 per child).
  • Yellow and black construction paper.
  • Glue sticks.
  • Crayons and markers.
  • Paper clock hands (arrows for clock hands — can be precut).
  • Brass fasteners (optional, for movable clock hands).

Instructions:

  1. Divide the paper plate in half.
  2. On one side, glue a yellow sun; on the other side, glue a moon and stars from black paper.
  3. Let kids color around the sun and moon — draw clouds, stars, etc.
  4. Add clock hands with a fastener (optional) to talk about time changing.
  5. Write on top: "God Made Time!"
  6. Talk about how God made day and night and loves us all the time!

Song "God Made Time" — A Rhyming Song for Toddlers

God made the sunshine, big and bright,
God made the moon to shine at night.
When I wake up, God is near,
When I sleep, He’s always here.

Sometimes clocks go fast or slow,
But God's great love will always show!
Day or night, at any time,
I am His, and He is mine!

Closing Prayer (Repeat After Me Style):

Dear God,
Thank You for making time.
Thank You for the sun and moon.
Help me remember You love me,
Day and night!
Amen.

Optional Take-Home Note for Parents:
