🌾 Toddler Bible Lesson: The Scarecrow Who Learned to Trust

📖 Bible Theme

Trusting God when we feel afraid.

✨ Bible Verse (Toddler-Friendly)

"God is our refuge and strength." – Psalm 46:1

⭐ Main Point to Repeat

“I can trust God to take care of me.”

📚 Toddler Story

In a big pumpkin patch stood a scarecrow named Sam. Sam’s job was to watch over the pumpkins.

But at night, when the sky grew dark, Sam felt nervous. The wind howled and the moon made shadows on the ground. Sam whispered, “I feel all alone.”

One night, Sam prayed, “God, please help me not be afraid.” Just then, he remembered the verse he had heard: “God is our refuge and strength.”

Sam looked at the bright stars and the big moon. “God made those,” he said. “If God can make the stars, He can take care of me, too.”

From then on, whenever Sam felt afraid, he trusted God. And he learned that God was always close by, even in the dark pumpkin patch.

🌟 Adaptive Learning – How Everyone Can Join In

Story Time

  • Use a large scarecrow picture or prop so children can see and touch.

  • For nonverbal kids: let them point to stars, moon, or pumpkins on cards when mentioned.

Activity

  • If children cannot drop a pumpkin, let them nod or signal for a helper to do it while they say (or press a button with): “God takes care of me!”

Craft

  • Pre-cut hair and face shapes. Children choose colors by gaze or signal. Helpers glue while children make choices.

Coloring Page

  • Offer thick crayons or adaptive holders. For children unable to color, let them choose colors for a peer buddy.

Snack

  • Provide choices using pictures (popcorn, raisins, candy corn). Children can point, nod, or press a sound button for their choice.

Song & Poem

  • Record “Trust God!” on a button for children to press during the song.

  • Use rhythm shakers strapped to wrists/feet for children with limited mobility.

Pretend Play

  • If a child cannot act as the scarecrow, they can be the “pumpkin caller” saying: “Don’t be afraid, God is near!”

💛 Special Inclusion Note

Even if a child does not have arms or legs, they can still join in through their voice, choices, or smiles. Every child can shine with God’s truth: “I can trust God to take care of me.”
