Main Point to Repeat with Kids:

“I can praise God with everything!”
(Have kids wave their arms like flags every time they say it!)

Toddler-Friendly Story:

The Flag That Wanted to Praise

In a little town filled with music and joy, everyone was getting ready for the Fourth of July parade.

The drums went BOOM.
The trumpets went TOOT.
The kids clapped and sang and waved their hands in the air.

But high up on the pole, a red, white, and blue flag swayed quietly in the wind.

“I wish I could praise God like they do,” the flag said sadly.

A balloon floated by. “You’re already dancing in the wind!”

A streamer shouted, “You wave better than anyone!”

But the flag sighed. “I don’t have hands to clap or a mouth to sing.”

Just then, a child picked up a small flag on a stick.
As the worship song started, she waved it with joy in the sunshine.

The flag felt a flutter inside.

“I’m praising now!” it smiled. “I’m praising with my waving!”

From that day on, every time the wind blew or someone waved a flag, that little flag remembered:

You can praise God in your own special way — because EVERYTHING can praise the Lord!

It didn’t have feet, it didn’t have hands,
But it could praise with waving stands!
The little flag danced in the breeze,
And gave God praise with joy and ease!

Pretend Play Game:

Let the children pretend to be in a Fourth of July Praise Parade!

  • Play worship music or drum sounds

  • Have them march with their flags, clapping or singing

  • Pause the music and shout, “Praise the Lord!”

Patriotic Fruit Praise Cups
Layer blueberries, strawberries, and whipped cream in clear cups.
Top with a star pick or mini flag.
Say together before eating:
“Thank You, God, for all good things! Amen!”

Closing Prayer (Repeat After Me):

Dear God,
Thank You for music,
Thank You for color,
Thank You for parades and joy.
Help me praise You
With everything I have.
Amen!

Optional Take-Home Note for Parents:

Today your child learned that everything can praise God — even a flag! In our story, a flag discovered that waving can be an act of worship. Encourage your child to praise God in little ways at home — waving, clapping, or even saying thank You for their snack.

How Everyone Can Praise:

💖 Inclusion Point: “Praising with My Heart!”

“I can praise God with my smile, my heart, and my thoughts!”

Tell the children:

“We don’t need arms or legs to praise God. We can praise Him by smiling, thinking kind thoughts, showing love, and just being thankful in our hearts. God hears your praise even when it's quiet — because He listens to your heart!”

You can also guide them to:

  • Smile really big as an act of praise

  • Blink their eyes twice as a “thank You”

  • Take a deep breath and whisper, “I love You, God” in their heart

  • Use visual cues like nodding or tilting the head gently as praise movements

  • Let others in class say “We praise God together!” so no one feels alone

🕊 Bonus Activity Adaptation:

Praise Light Game
Pass around a small battery tea light or glow stick. When it reaches them, they smile or nod and say (or think):
“I can praise God too!”
Then pass it on. This affirms their light shines for Jesus in their own special way.
