Story: "The Backpack Who Wanted to Be Carried Everywhere — A Lesson on Helping Others and Not Giving Up"
Once upon a time, there was a bright red backpack named Benny.
Benny loved to be carried on fun adventures — to school, to the park, and even on trips. But Benny didn’t like to be set down.
"I want to be carried all the time!" Benny said.
But one day, his owner, Emma, needed to stop and rest.
"Oh Benny, you’re heavy!" Emma said as she sat down.
Benny huffed, "But I want to go, go, go! I don’t want to stop!"
Later that day, Emma needed to carry books to help her friend.
She picked up Benny and said,
"Benny, we have to help my friend. Can you carry these books?"
Benny looked at the books and thought,
"That’s too hard! I don’t want to carry books. I just want to have fun!"
Emma smiled and said,
"Benny, backpacks are made to help carry things — that’s why you were made!"
Benny paused.
"I guess I can help... even if it’s hard," he said.
So Benny let Emma fill him up with books, and together, they helped her friend.
When they finished, Benny felt proud!
"I did it! I helped! I didn’t give up!"
Emma gave Benny a pat and said,
"See? You can do great things when you help others!"
From that day on, Benny learned that being helpful and not giving up made him feel happier than being carried everywhere.

Song: God Made Me To Help
(Verse 1)
I can help, I can share,
God made me to show I care!
When it's hard, I won’t stop,
God gives me strength — I’ll go to the top!
(Chorus)
Help, help, help today,
God will show me the way!
Help, help, help and try,
God will help me reach the sky!
(Verse 2)
Sometimes work feels too tough,
But God says, "You are enough!"
Little hands, big love to show,
With God’s help, I’m ready to go!
(Repeat Chorus)
Help, help, help today,
God will show me the way!
Help, help, help and try,
God will help me reach the sky!
Closing Prayer (Repeat After Me Style):
Dear God,
Thank You for making me strong.
Help me to help others.
Even when it’s hard,
Help me not give up.
I love You, God!
Amen.
Optional Take-Home Note for Parents:
Today we learned from Benny the Backpack that God made us to help others and keep going, even when things are hard! Ask your child to show you their backpack craft and talk about how they can help at home, church, or school.
