Larry the Lion Who Lost His Roar — Until He Prayed! Sunday School Lesson Plan For Toddlers

Lesson Title:

"Larry the Lion Who Lost His Roar — Until He Prayed!"

Bible Theme:

God hears me when I pray

Bible Verse (Toddler Version):

👉 “Pray to God, and He will help you.” — Psalm 17:6 (Toddler-friendly paraphrase)

“I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.”Psalm 17:6 (KJV)

This is a beautiful verse that reminds us that God listens when we call on Him — perfect for a lesson like Larry the Lion Who Lost His Roar.

Main Point to Repeat with Kids:

🗣️ "When I pray, God helps me!"

Story: "Larry the Lion Who Lost His Roar"

Once upon a time, in a big green jungle, there was a lion named Larry. Larry loved to ROAR so loud! Can you roar like Larry? (Let kids roar!)

But one day, when Larry woke up, he tried to roar — but no sound came out! (Look surprised and make a funny silent roar face!)

Larry went to all his animal friends. First, he asked Ellie the Elephant. She said, “Maybe if you eat more bananas?” (Silly idea!)

Then he asked Milo the Monkey. Milo said, “Try jumping up and down!” (Act it out together.)

But nothing worked! Larry felt so sad. He whispered, “What do I do? I miss my roar!”

Then Larry remembered what his Grandma Lion told him:
"When you need help, talk to God. God is always listening."

So Larry sat down under a big tree, closed his eyes, and prayed:
"Dear God, I feel sad. I lost my roar. Please help me."

And guess what? After Larry prayed, he felt brave and happy inside! He opened his mouth and said...

"ROOOOAAARRR!" (Encourage all kids to roar together!)

Larry was so happy! He ran to his friends and said, "When I prayed, God helped me!"

And every day after that, Larry knew he could pray to God anytime!
