“God works for the good of those who love Him.” – Romans 8:28
(Shortened for toddlers: “God has a plan for me!”)

🌟 Main Point to Repeat with Kids:

👉 “God has a plan for me!”

(Have kids point to themselves and then point up to God each time they say it.)

📚 Toddler Story: Colby the Crow and Sam the Scarecrow’s Spaghetti Surprise

On a quiet fall farm in Holland, Texas, the fields were golden and full of corn. 🌽
Every day, the farmer’s scarecrow stood tall and proud, guarding the field. His name was Sam.

All the crows were scared of Sam. Whenever they saw his straw hat and button eyes, they flew away fast!

All except one little crow named Colby.

Colby didn’t care about the corn — he didn’t even like it!
His favorite food was spaghetti! 🍝

Every morning, Colby cooked a small pot of noodles, twirled them on his fork, and said,
“Thank You, God, for spaghetti!”

One day, Colby saw Sam standing all alone in the field.
The other crows shouted, “Stay away! That scarecrow will scare you too!”

But Colby smiled. “Not me! I don’t want his corn — I’ve got my spaghetti!”

He flew down and sat right beside Sam.
“Hi! I’m Colby,” he said. “You look lonely. Want to share some spaghetti?”

Sam blinked. “No one’s ever talked to me before. I’m supposed to scare away crows.”

Colby grinned. “Well, I’m not like other crows. I just want to be your friend!”

They shared spaghetti, laughed, and talked until the sun went down. ☀️

The next day, Colby brought his Bible.
He read how God made the earth and everything in it — even the corn! 🌽
“God made the corn to feed people,” Colby said. “And He made you to protect it. Maybe He made me to be your friend!”

Sam nodded. “Sometimes God’s plans don’t make sense — but they’re always good.”

From that day on, the scarecrow and the crow met every morning for spaghetti, stories, and smiles.
Sam did his job, and Colby kept him company.

They were an unusual pair, but everyone on the farm saw God’s love shining through their friendship. 💛

The End.

🌟 Story Reflection:

Colby and Sam remind us that even when things seem different or strange, God can use anyone — and any friendship — for His good plan.

🌟 How God Used Sam and Colby in His Plan:

  1. God used Sam to protect the corn (his job)... but also to learn compassion.
Sam was created to stand guard — to protect what feeds others. But God didn’t want him to be lonely. By bringing Colby into his life, God showed Sam that you can do your job and still have a friend, even when the world says, “You’re too different to get along.”

  2. God used Colby to bring kindness and connection where no one expected it.
Colby was different. He didn’t want what everyone else wanted. He saw past the rules, past what others said (“Don’t go near the scarecrow!”), and chose kindness instead.
Through Colby, God showed that kindness breaks barriers, and friendship can grow in unexpected places.

  3. Together, Sam and Colby showed the farm how God’s love looks.
Their friendship became an example to everyone watching — the other crows, the farmer, even the animals — that God’s plan is sometimes surprising but always full of love.
By reading the Bible together, sharing food, and simply showing up for one another, Sam and Colby lived out the truth of Romans 8:28:

“God works for the good of those who love Him.”

🧡 Faith Truth for Kids:

God can use anyone for His good plan — even a scarecrow and a crow!

Sometimes God brings different friends together to show His love. Even if things don’t make sense to us, God knows exactly what He’s doing.

💛 In Simple Preschool Terms:

“God made Sam to take care of the corn.
God made Colby to be a kind friend.
And when they became friends, they helped each other not be lonely.
God had a plan all along — even when it didn’t make sense!”

🎵 Song: “God Had a Plan For Sam & Colby in Holland, Texas!”

(A Silly Fall Song about Sam the Scarecrow & Colby the Crow)

Verse 1
Way down yonder in Holland, Texas, 🌽
Where the corn grows tall and the sunshine blesses, ☀️
Lived Sam the Scarecrow, standing so proud,
Keeping those crows from the farmer’s crowd!

Chorus
But God had a plan, oh yes, He did! 🙌
For a scarecrow and a crow — imagine it, kids! 🐦
In the Holland fields where the corn stalks sway,
God made friendship in a brand-new way! 💛

Verse 2
Here came Colby, flying low,
A funny little crow with spaghetti to go! 🍝
He didn’t want corn, he just came to say,
“Hey Sam, want to share my lunch today?”

Chorus
’Cause God had a plan, oh yes, He did!
For a scarecrow and a crow — imagine it, kids!
In the Holland fields where the corn stalks sway,
God made friendship in a brand-new way!

Bridge
They read the Bible in the setting sun, 📖
Thanking God for all He’d done.
Sam kept guard, Colby shared his plate,
And they both learned God is great! 🙏
