🎃👓 Story: Bobby the Pumpkin and His Glasses (long version)

Once upon a time in a bright, happy pumpkin patch, there lived a little pumpkin named Bobby.
Bobby was round, orange, and had the biggest smile. But Bobby also had something that made him different—he wore a pair of shiny blue glasses. 👓

Bobby loved his glasses because they helped him see the chalkboard at school and the letters in his favorite Bible storybook. But sometimes, Bobby felt a little shy about them.

One morning, Bobby rolled into pumpkin school. All the other pumpkins were laughing and playing. Some of them pointed and said, “Wow! Bobby has glasses!”

Bobby blushed. He wanted to hide under a leaf. “Maybe I look too different,” he thought.

At story time, Bobby’s teacher, Miss Maple, opened the Bible. She read:
“I praise You because I am wonderfully made.” – Psalm 139:14

Miss Maple smiled at Bobby and said, “That means God made each one of us special—including you, Bobby. Your glasses help you see all the wonderful things God made. You don’t need to feel ashamed. God loves you just the same as every pumpkin here!”

Bobby’s heart felt warm.
“Really?” he asked.
“Really,” said Miss Maple. “God made you just right.”

That afternoon, Bobby played tag with the other pumpkins. He could see every laugh, every smile, and even every wiggly worm in the dirt—because his glasses helped him!

Bobby giggled and thought,
“My glasses don’t make me less. They make me Bobby—and God loves Bobby just the way I am.”

That night, under the twinkling stars, Bobby whispered a prayer:
“Thank You, God, for making me me. Thank You for loving me just the same as everyone else.”

And Bobby the Pumpkin drifted off to sleep with a big, happy smile on his face. 🌙✨

🌟 Main Point for Preschoolers:

📚 Toddler Story: Bobby the Pumpkin and His Glasses (shorter version)

Bobby the Pumpkin was bright, round, and cheerful. He wore shiny blue glasses to help him see.

One day at pumpkin school, the other pumpkins laughed and said, “Look, Bobby wears glasses!”

Bobby felt shy. He thought, “Maybe I’m too different.”

Then Miss Maple, the teacher, read from the Bible:
“I am wonderfully made.”

She smiled at Bobby and said, “God made you special. Your glasses help you see His wonderful world. God loves you just the same as every pumpkin here!”

Encourage your child to thank God for making them special and to notice all the wonderful ways God made others unique, too.

💛 Special Inclusion Note (Adaptive Learning):

  • Provide large, colorful glasses props for visual learners.

  • Use picture cards with “pumpkin,” “glasses,” and “love” for nonverbal children.

  • Let children choose the color of Bobby’s glasses even if they can’t glue them.

  • A sound button can say “God loves me!” so all kids can join in.

🌟 Adaptive Learning – How Everyone Can Join In

📚 Story Time

  • Use a large pumpkin prop or picture of a pumpkin with glasses while telling Bobby’s story.

  • For nonverbal kids: provide picture cards of “pumpkin,” “glasses,” “Bible,” and “God” so they can point when mentioned.

  • Pass around toy glasses, pipe cleaner glasses, or even sunglasses so kids can touch and connect to Bobby’s special difference.

🎲 Activity – Mirror Time

  • For children who cannot hold mirrors, use a large classroom mirror so everyone can see themselves together.

  • A helper can hold the mirror for kids while they point to features (eyes, smile, hair).

  • Offer adaptive scissors or pre-bent pipe cleaners so kids can help shape the glasses.

🖍️ Coloring Page

  • Provide bold markers, chunky crayons, or adaptive grips for easier coloring.

  • For children who cannot color, let them point to a color choice and have a buddy color for them.

🍎 Snack – “Pumpkin Glasses Treats”

  • Lay pretzel sticks across the top as “glasses.”

  • For nonverbal children, provide snack choice cards so they can point to what they want.

  • For children with texture sensitivities, provide an alternative snack but still connect it to the theme: “Bobby’s glasses help him see—your snack helps you grow strong, just as God made you!”

🎵 Song & Poem

  • Record the phrase “God loves me just the same!” on a sound button for nonverbal kids to press during the chorus.

  • Provide rhythm sticks, shakers, or jingle bells for kids who need movement.

  • Children who need quiet can simply smile, nod, or tap their knees softly while others sing.

🎭 Pretend Play – Pumpkin School
