Valentine’s Day Children’s Bedtime Story

💗This is a gentle bedtime story for toddlers and preschoolers, perfect for Valentine’s Day. With simple language, sweet characters, and a happy ending, it’s designed to be read aloud before bed.

Once upon a Valentine’s Day, in a land full of hugs and giggles, there lived a bright red heart named Billy.
Billy loved Valentine’s Day more than anything—especially his chocolate heart candy.

But one morning…
GASP!

Billy’s chocolate heart was gone.

“Oh no,” said Billy softly. “Someone took my Valentine.”

Billy didn’t want to be upset. Instead, he decided to be brave and investigate.

First, Billy hopped over to his friend Mike the White Bunny.

“Mike,” Billy asked kindly, “did you take my chocolate heart?”

Mike’s ears flopped as he shook his head.
“Nope! I was busy hopping and hugging all day!”

Next, Billy waddled over to Willy the Black Bear.

“Willy,” Billy asked, “did you take my candy?”

Willy patted his tummy and smiled.
“No sir! I only had berries today.”

Billy sighed but kept going.

Finally, Billy tip-toed to the house of Stinker the Raccoon.

“Stinker,” Billy asked gently, “did you take my chocolate heart?”

Stinker froze. His tail drooped.

“Well… um… yes,” Stinker said.
“I didn’t know it belonged to anyone. I thought it was just… lonely candy.”

Billy felt sad, but Stinker quickly said,
“I’m really, really sorry. Please come inside. I want to make it right.”

Inside Stinker’s house, Billy’s eyes grew BIG.

There were socks… buttons… ribbons… notes… and shiny things everywhere!

Billy gasped.
“HEY! These are mine! I lost these years ago!”

Stinker laughed nervously.
“Oops… I guess I borrow things and forget to give them back.”

Stinker hugged Billy tight.
“I don’t want to be a taker anymore. I want to be a sharer.”

So Stinker gave Billy everything back…
AND made him a new chocolate heart—this one even bigger!

They shared it together, laughing and smiling.

From that day on, Stinker didn’t take things anymore.
He shared, asked first, and gave hugs instead.

And Billy learned that forgiveness makes hearts grow even bigger 💕

The End 💝
