Post 26: “When Your Joy Makes Others Uncomfortable”
Maybe you’ve felt it before. That moment when your joy overflows, and instead of celebrating with you… someone rolls their eyes. Makes a sharp comment. Dismisses your happiness. Or tries to cut it down.
And it stings, doesn’t it? Because your joy wasn’t fake. It wasn’t forced. It was real — a gift from the Lord, bubbling up in you like living water. And yet, someone saw it and decided to despise it.
Here’s the truth: your joy is not wrong.
The happiness you carry in Him is not silly, shallow, or annoying. It is holy. It is strength. It is light in a world that has too much darkness.
Sometimes people push back against your joy because they don’t understand it. Sometimes because they’ve forgotten what it feels like to carry it. And sometimes because light always makes shadows feel exposed.
But listen — you don’t have to dim your light to make someone else comfortable.
Your laughter is a testimony. Your peace is a witness. Your joy is a flame that points to something greater than you.
Don’t apologize for it. Don’t shrink back because someone else couldn’t handle it. Don’t let their bitterness steal your song.
You are allowed to be glad. You are allowed to overflow. You are allowed to walk in the kind of happiness that only God can give — even if others don’t clap along.
And if their words hurt you, it’s okay to admit it. But let those wounds remind you: Even when people despise what they don’t understand, God delights in what He’s placed inside of you.
So keep smiling. Keep shining. Keep letting that joy spill out.
Because joy like that? It’s not just for you. It’s for the ones who are secretly desperate to remember what it feels like. 💛
