Post 10: “To the Sunday School Teacher Who Feels Overlooked”

To the Sunday school teacher…

The one who shows up with a heart full of Scripture and a mind full of crafts.
The one who studies long after the house is quiet.
The one who preps object lessons and snacks and memory verses like it’s the most important job in the world — because deep down, you know it is.

I see you.

I see the way you carry stories and songs and hope into that room every Sunday.
I see the way you smile, even when you’re tired.
The way you gently correct.
The way you really listen when a child talks — even when they take the long way around to say it.

You teach them about Jesus…
But what they remember is how you made them feel.

Safe.
Valued.
Seen.

Maybe it doesn’t feel like much sometimes.
Maybe you wonder if the kids are even listening.
Maybe the grown-ups forget to thank you.
Maybe you leave some Sundays thinking, “Did any of that even matter?”

But it did.
It does.
And it always will.

Because years from now, that child will remember the way your face lit up when they walked in.
They’ll remember the time you let them sit beside you when they were scared.
They’ll remember the story you told that stuck in their heart like glue.

They’ll remember you.

They may not remember every lesson, every verse, every craft…
But they will remember that someone showed up for them.
Week after week.
Quietly.
Faithfully.
Lovingly.

And that?
That’s ministry.

So if you’re tired — rest.
If you feel unseen — know that Heaven noticed.
If you feel like no one appreciates you — let this be your reminder:

You are doing holy work.
Even on the messy days.
Even when the glitter spills.
Even when the lesson goes sideways.

You are sowing seeds into eternity.
And one day — maybe not today, maybe not even soon — the fruit of that love will bloom.

So keep going, gentle soul.
You’re doing better than you think.
And you are so deeply loved.
