š Toddler-Friendly Story:
āThe Turtle Who Dropped His Tacosā
Toby the Turtle loved Taco Tuesday.
He loved it so much, he did a happy wiggle every time he smelled cheesy tacos in the air.
But this Tuesday⦠was a mess.
As Toby carried his taco plate out of the kitchen ā SPLAT!
One taco slid off.
āOh no,ā he muttered, āItās okay. I still have two more.ā
He kept walking.
SPLAT! Another one hit the floor.
Toby blinked. His lip quivered.
He reached the table andā¦
SPLAT! The last taco flopped off the plate and rolled across the floor like a sad little shell.
Toby froze. He wanted to cry. He wanted to stomp. He wanted to SCREAM.
But instead, he whispered:
āDear God, I feel upset. Can You help me not panic?ā
And right then, he remembered something his mom told him:
āGod cares when youāre upset. You can tell Him anything.ā
So Toby took a deep breath.
He picked up the tacos.
He wiped off the mess.
And guess what?
His family surprised him with two extra tacos... and one with double cheese.
āGod,ā he prayed with a smile, āThank You for caring about my tacos⦠and my heart.ā
Ā
š² Activity/Game:
āTaco Toss Troubles!ā
Let kids toss (fake) paper tacos (or beanbags) into bowls.
Miss one? Thatās okay!
Each time they miss, have them say:
š£ļø āGod cares when Iām upset!ā
This game teaches them that mistakes are okay ā and God still loves them when things go wrong.

And helps me through the mess!
Ā
š Poem:
Tobyās Taco Prayer
Toby had some taco dreams,
But things went wrongāor so it seemed.
He dropped his snack and felt real blue,
But talked to Godājust like me and you!
And in the middle of his mess,
God showed up to love and bless.
Ā
š Pretend Play Game:
āTurtle Talk Timeā
Let kids crawl around like turtles carrying paper plates with pretend tacos.
Every time a taco āfalls,ā they pause and pretend to pray:
āDear God, Iām sad⦠but I know You care.ā
Encourages calm reactions and faith-based thinking.
Ā
š Closing Prayer (Repeat After Me):
Dear God,
Sometimes things go wrong.
I drop my stuff.
I feel upset.
But You always care.
Help me stop, pray, and trust You.
Amen!
Ā
š¬ Optional Take-Home Note for Parents:
Today we met Toby the Turtle, who had a very bad taco day! But instead of panicking, he prayed. We learned that when things go wrong, we can give our worries to God ā because He really does care about every little moment. Encourage your child to talk to God this week when they feel upset or overwhelmed.
Ā
š” What Weāre Learning:
This story teaches preschoolers that God is always near ā even in silly, messy moments like dropped tacos. Through 1 Peter 5:7, children learn that God wants them to bring their worries and feelings to Him. This lesson reinforces that prayer isn't just for big problems ā it's for spilled snacks, sad feelings, and every little thing in between. God cares deeply about our hearts.
