“Jesus gives me joy!”
(Say it while smiling, clapping, and even giggling!)

Toddler-Friendly Story:

The Lamb That Lost Her Giggle

Once there was a little lamb named Lolly, and she was known far and wide for her happy giggle.

She giggled when butterflies tickled her nose.
She giggled when bubbles floated by.
She even giggled when she tripped over a flower!

But one day, Lolly woke up feeling… quiet.

No giggle. Not even a chuckle.
She tried to smile, but it wiggled upside down. Her friends noticed.

“Wanna play tag?” asked a bunny.
“No giggle.”
“Want a flower crown?” asked a duck.
“No giggle.”

The animals held a springtime picnic to cheer her up. They brought strawberries, cookies, and pink lemonade.

They sang, played, and told silly stories. But Lolly just blinked.

Then a wise old turtle said,
“Lolly, joy doesn’t come from giggles or games. Joy comes from Jesus. He gives joy that stays — even on quiet days.”

Lolly closed her eyes and whispered,
“Jesus, I miss my joy. Please fill my heart again.”

And right then —
SNNNNRT!
She burst into a BIG, woolly, belly giggle! The butterflies danced, the lemonade wiggled, and her joy returned!

Now, Lolly shares her joy and reminds everyone:
Jesus brings joy that never leaves.

Activity:

“Pass the Giggle” Game
Have kids sit in a circle. One child makes a silly giggle and “passes” it to the next. They all copy it, then make up their own! End with saying together: “Jesus gives me joy!”

Craft:

Lolly the Giggle Lamb

Let kids create their very own cotton ball lamb to remember that joy comes from Jesus!

Supplies Needed:

  • White paper plate (or cardstock circle)

  • Cotton balls (enough to cover the plate)

  • Googly eyes

  • Black or pink construction paper (for ears and smile)

  • Glue stick or liquid glue

  • Crayons or markers

  • Optional: pom-poms, stickers, or mini bows for extra fun

  • Craft stick (if you'd like to turn it into a puppet)

Instructions:

  1. Cover the Plate:
Let each child glue cotton balls all over the front of the paper plate to create a fluffy lamb body.

  2. Add the Face:

    • Glue on two googly eyes near the center.

    • Cut a small oval or “U” shape from construction paper for a smiling mouth and glue it underneath the eyes.

    • Cut two ears out of construction paper and glue one to each side of the lamb.

  3. Write the Verse or Message:
Across the top or back of the plate, help children write or glue on a printed label:
“Jesus gives me joy!” – Philippians 4:4

  4. (Optional) Add a Stick:
For a lamb puppet, tape or glue a craft stick to the back so they can hold it while doing the pretend play game.

  5. Let Them Personalize It:
Kids can color, add glitter glue, or stick on a bow or sticker to make their lamb extra giggly and joyful.

Kids can carry their lamb around while giggling!

Song:

🎵 “I've Got the Joy in My Heart” (classic toddler version)
🎶
I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
(Where?)
Down in my heart! (Where?)
Down in my heart!
I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Down in my heart to stay!

Poem:

Lolly’s Giggle Came Back
Lolly was quiet, her giggle was gone,
She missed her joy all day long.
But when she prayed to Jesus true,
Her joy came back — just like new!

Pretend Play Game:

“Joy Picnic Parade”
Pretend to pack a picnic with pretend food, a blanket, and friends. March around with a lamb puppet or mask. Every few steps, stop and say:
“Jesus gives me joy!” and act out a big happy giggle.

Snack Idea:

Joy-Filled Jelly Sandwiches
Cut sandwiches into lamb shapes or hearts and fill with jelly. Serve with lemonade and have kids say:
“Thank You, Jesus, for my joy!”

Closing Prayer (Repeat After Me):

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for joy.
Even when I feel sad,
You are with me.
Please fill my heart with giggles again.
Amen!

Optional Take-Home Note for Parents:

Today we learned that true joy comes from Jesus! Your child met Lolly the lamb, who lost her giggle — until she remembered to ask Jesus to fill her heart again. Encourage your child to talk to Jesus when they’re feeling down. His joy never runs out!
