Toddler-Friendly Story:
The Firecracker That Learned to Shine for Jesus
It was almost the Fourth of July, and all the fireworks were getting ready.
Boomers were stretching.
Sparklers were practicing their sparkle.
Roman Candles were humming songs.
But Sparky, a tiny little red firecracker, was hiding in a box.
“What if I’m too small?” he worried. “What if I fizzle out?”
The bigger fireworks zoomed and boomed. “We’ll light up the sky!” they cheered.
Sparky peeked out. “I don’t think I can shine like you...”
Just then, a soft voice whispered,
“Let your light shine.”
Sparky blinked. “Who said that?”
It was the old lantern on the porch. “Jesus made you to shine,” the lantern said. “Even if you’re small, your light matters.”
So Sparky took a deep breath and said,
“Okay, Jesus... I’ll try.”
That night, the sky was filled with sparkles and sounds. Then—
ZzzzzZIP!
Sparky soared up and popped with a gentle shimmer. Not loud. Not huge.
But beautiful.
The children below cheered! “That one was my favorite!”
Sparky giggled. “I did it! I SHINED!”
And from then on, Sparky remembered:
Jesus made him to shine—his own special way.
