📘 Toddler-Friendly Story:
“The Cow Who Tried to Cook Cornbread in the Sun”
Clarabelle the Cow loved cornbread.
She loved it more than hay. More than grass. Even more than daisy petals!
One day, she had a big idea.
“I’m going to cook cornbread all by myself!”
But Clarabelle didn’t have an oven.
She only had a sunny field and a flat rock.
So she mixed up the batter — flour, eggs, milk, and moo-sic (she sang while stirring).
Then she poured it all on the rock and said proudly, “Sun, bake my cornbread!”
She waited.
And waited.
And… waited.
The batter just sat there.
Flies buzzed. The wind blew. A squirrel stuck his paw in it.
Clarabelle sighed. “Why isn’t it working?”
She wanted to cry. But then she remembered something her grandma cow once said:
“If you don’t know what to do — ask God. He gives wisdom!”
So Clarabelle closed her eyes and prayed:
“God, I need help. I don’t know how to make this work.”
Just then, Farmer Luke walked by.
“Oh sweet cow,” he chuckled. “Let’s use the kitchen oven this time.”
So they carefully scooped up the batter and baked it together.
When the timer dinged, Clarabelle took a bite and moooed with joy.
“God,” she whispered, “thank You for giving me wisdom… and cornbread.”
And from that day on, Clarabelle never forgot:
“If you need wisdom, ask God!”
The End.
🎲 Activity/Game:

🎵 “Clarabelle’s Cornbread Song”
(Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star)
Clarabelle made cornbread dough,
Plopped it on a rock below.
Waited in the sunny heat,
But it didn’t bake or heat!
She asked God what should she do—
He gave wisdom strong and true!
📝 Poem:
Clarabelle’s Sun-Baked Mess
Clarabelle had a bright idea,
She plopped cornbread on a rock so near.
But nothing cooked, and things got sticky,
So she asked God — now that was tricky!
God gave her wisdom, sweet and true,
And now she knows just what to do.

But You do!
Please help me ask You,
And listen to Your wisdom.
Thank You for always helping me.
Amen!
📬 Optional Take-Home Note for Parents:
Today we met Clarabelle the Cow, who tried to bake cornbread on a rock! When it didn’t work, she stopped and asked God for help. We taught the kids that God gives wisdom when we ask — just like James 1:5 says. Encourage your child this week to pray when they’re unsure of what to do!
💡 What We’re Learning:
This lesson reminds children that when things don’t work out, they can stop and ask God for help. Through the silly story of a cow and a sunny rock, toddlers learn the real truth of James 1:5 — God loves to help us when we don’t know what to do. They’re never too young to pray and ask God for wisdom in even the smallest decisions.
